Fellow members of the Craft
Firstly, can I say how immensely honoured and privileged I am to be elected the 316th Deacon of the Incorporation of Hammermen of Glasgow. Since I first joined the Master Court, the achievements of my predecessors have demonstrated the great legacy of the Craft at the heart of our City. The responsibilities of the Deacon are not to be taken lightly, and the weight of the chain is much felt upon my shoulders. For the coming year I will represent the Craft in maintaining our heritage and traditions, promoting our relevance to our flourishing City and furthering our service that all my predecessors have upheld. I will ensure the Craft goes from strength-to-strength and maintains its status as the Premier Craft.
I would like to thank late Deacon Mick and recognise his contribution to the Incorporation of Hammermen during a successful year as Deacon launching Hammermen Young Professionals and working with SmartSTEMS taking engineering to primary schools within Glasgow and preseenting the first Hammermen Bright Spark Award.
As is evident from the Craft’s Annual Report he has overseen a year to be proud of much having been achieved, and he leaves the role with the Craft in excellent standing. I would not expect anything less.
The Incorporation’s Annual Dinner is on Thursday 12 November 2026 and I look forward to welcoming members of the Craft and their guests at an excellent evening.
