Welcome to the DC Newsletter, the first in a series over the coming year, which we are calling Trading Post. With so many of our traditional events cancelled or transferred to a zoom platform, it is important that we continue to spread news and share ideas across the Trades House family of crafts and organisations.

2020 Poppy Appeal

The Poppy Appeal in 2020 faces real issues as it tries to gain traction against the background of the restrictions and COVID lockdown. With so many of its collectors being drawn from the ‘at risk’ category and so many places where poppies might be sold, unable to offer a safe space, the Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland is facing a massive reduction in its potential to raise much needed funds. So as an innovation in addition to the traditional poppy and badges, the appeal is also selling face-masks.

Trades House Tartan Face Marks

To launch the Deacon Convener’s Charitable Appeal, Trades House have designed an item which will be part of everyone’s lives (and wardrobe ! ) for some time to come—a very stylish Face Mask made from their own Trades House tartan. These washable, fully lined, double layer masks come in two styles with over the ear adjustable elastic fastenings. They are available to purchase on the accompanying order form. Collector Billy Birse-Stewart will coordinate the processing of orders and Ingles Buchan will despatch them direct to you once made.

Charity Christmas Appeal

Trades House are pleased to be supporting the Glasgow
Spirit of Christmas Appeal, donating funds for young people (13-16 age range). Covid-19 has put enormous pressure on services and the numbers of young people requiring support has dramatically increased. You may already have donated, but you can still help by making a financial contribution which will be converted into gift bags.
